Fear not fellow “Dead Heads” shooting for Season 8 of The Walking Dead has officially begun! The talk of a writers’s strike sent a tremor of fear through the collective community of die hards TWD fans but thankfully that didn’t happen. The show appears to be right on track for its usual filming dates of May to early December. The Season 8 premiere is right on pace to arrive in our living rooms sometime in October.
The Season 8 premiere kicks out right where the Season 7 finale ended. In addition to the start of the All Out War between Negan and the Saviors vs. Alexandria, the Kingdom, fans can also expect big things for the show’s 100th episode.
It was recently also announced that there will be two new additions to the packed cast:
“Ahead of Season 8’s Saviors/Scavengers-vs.-Alexandria/Hilltop/Kingdom war, AMC’s monster smash is casting two new recurring good guys: Dillon, a sexy, blue-collar twentysomething whose survival skills include sarcasm, and Abbud, an innately likable Muslim American whose nerves are, let’s say, jangled, because he’s flown solo for too long in zombieland. Of the pair, the former is likelier to survive the looming conflict — not only does Dillon sound like a less jerky Spencer, but the casting notice for the roles hints that the actor chosen might get picked up for subsequent seasons
The new trailer for “The Walking Dead” usually debuts at San Diego Comic-Con in July. Around that time we should also find out the official Season 8 premiere date.
