His character’s death inspired so many inappropriate memes and caused great sadness among The Walking Dead (TWD) fans. Now, after an entire year, actor Steven Yeun finally breaks his silence about leaving the hit zombie apocalypse drama.
According to Comicbook.com, the actor spoke at a panel at Walker Stalker Con. When asked about leaving the show, Yeun said, “It’s hard to leave family after seven years of being together but also it feels very complete. Something needed to happen to propel this next season.”
Glenn’s death, which was part of the season 6 cliffhanger reveal on the season 7 premiere, came as a massive shock to fans. So much so, that another character died, and many people didn’t even notice. However, at one point in the panel discussion, the actor said, “he died too,” giving Abraham actor Michael Cudlitz a hug.
During the event, Yeun revealed that he did mess with fans about Glenn’s death, and ultimately was able to keep the secret. Another small regret he has is that the show never explored much of Glenn’s backstory.
As for if Darryl (Norman Reedus) is at fault for Glenn’s death, “No, no,” Yeun said. “Glenn’s death is sad. It wasn’t his fault.”
As for his future, Yeun revealed he is working on several upcoming projects. Some are animated and others he wasn’t able to discuss.
