I’m just going to say it: I love the character Sansa Stark. I love her like I don’t love X-Men’s Jean Grey (also portrayed by stunning actress Sophie Turner in the film X-Men: Apocalypse−fingers crossed Turner turns Greys’ character around in the upcoming film featuring Turner as the X-Men telepath).
What I love most about the character Sansa Stark is that she is truly the Phoenix from the ashes. Meaning: nothing gets this Stark down. She begins the show a mere child betrothed to her love Prince Joffrey Baratheon. She then encounters the Lannister coo that gets her dad charged with treason and killed. Still, her dedication to her moral beliefs lead her to misunderstanding the politics around her.
It isn’t until she looks on as dogs eat her evil husband Ramsay Bolton that you see that Sansa Stark is not to be messed with.
Sansa Stark is unique, because she is allowed to grow and change−and even make some big mistakes. Usually women don’t do that in the screen universe. The majority of female characters are still wooden screen mannequins that have one soul ethos and cannot and do not grow or change. Sansa does. That’s why I like her.
So, what is in store for Sansa Stark in the upcoming Season 7 of Game of Thrones?
When we first see Sansa in the trailer for Game of Thrones Season 7−which premieres July 16 on HBO−she is being talked to by the brilliant and conniving Petyr Baelish also known as Littlefinger, “Your father and brothers are gone, yet here you stand. The last best hope against the coming storm.”
We all know by watching the show, that Sansa has weathered some major storms.
The conflict is that right now her supposed half-brother sits on the throne as the King of the North−a position that should have been given or at least have been shared with Sansa. He is her last big brother. In order to become the leader of the North, she will be forced to destroy her own flesh and blood.
The question on everyone’s lips, is if she has the capacity to do something so dastardly. If she doesn’t, then Littlefinger can. We know this. So, we can suppose in the upcoming season that she will be joining forces with Baelish in order to get her hands on the throne. Sansa is ready to play the game and not just be another pawn.
