With the already delayed Game of Thrones (GOT) game 7 season premiere nearly here, fans are thrilled to find out what story the next seven episodes tell. However, they might not be quite as thrilled to find out the latest news about season 8.

While it’s difficult to imagine, according to the Huffington Post, the last season of GOT may not air until 2019! While the conclusion to the series will be short and only contain 6 episodes, HBO programming president Casey Bloys said that it could take a while to get things ready to air.

Bloys said, David Benioff and Dan Weiss, “have to write the episodes and figure out the production schedule. We’ll have a better sense of that once they get further into the writing.”

Not only that, but also the possible spinoff series are well into the future too! Will you be able to wait that long after the nearly interminable season 7 wait? How do you feel about this unexpected delay news? Do you think it might dampen your enjoyment of this year’s six new episodes?
